🚫 The absolute rule: clean & safe

Before packing your donation, please run it through our "Three S's" test. Every single item must be:

1. Smell-free (No smoke, mustiness, or pet odors)

2. Safe (No sharp edges, toxic chemicals, or hazardous materials)

3. Scrubbed (No food residue, grease, or sticky spills)

   ❌ What we cannot accept

   If it belongs in a regular thrift store, a hazardous waste site, or the actual trash, we cannot take it.

4. Items We Must Refuse

5. Household Goods Clothing (unless specifically for textile scraps), shoes, bedding, curtains, pillows, and appliances.

6. Hazardous Opened household cleaners, house paint cans, chemicals, batteries, and lightbulbs.

7. Health & Safety Medical supplies, used cosmetics, personal care products, and food items.

8. Media & Tech computer monitors, and printers. (on occasion we can accept some tech for our take a parts.)

   💡 Donation Pro Tip: If you have a massive industrial donation (like a truckload of manufacturing leftovers), please email us pictures first so we can make sure we have the bin space to store it!

Spark and Salvage is a for profit LLC, donations are not tax deductible, however:

Business Expense (Yes, Deductible)

You can still write off the items, but as an ordinary and necessary Business Expense rather than a charitable write-off:

• Liquidation/Wholesale: If you sell your excess or obsolete inventory to a reseller for cash, you record the revenue as income. You can then deduct the original manufacturing or wholesale costs of those items as Cost of Goods Sold (COGS).

• Disposal/Scrapping: If you discard unsellable items or give them to a reseller for absolutely zero compensation, you can generally write off the items as a business loss.

Your donation will be used to spark creativity. Items will be used for classes, workshops and creative events.

Some items may be resold as creative materials. Items are sold at affordable prices intended for creative use.
